Kursleiter: Professor Johannes Schlaefli
Assistent: James Lowe, England

Dirigier-Meisterkurs mit Prof. Johannes Schlaefli
http://www.isa-allegra.com

The conducting masterclass is designed for professional conductors and advanced conducting students. The class will be taught by Prof. Johannes Schlaefli. In order to enrich and intensify the course, the conductor James Lowe is invited to assist and give additional feedback and lessons.

There will be a maximum of 16 active participants, each of whom will have podium time of approximately 190 minutes. In addition to the time with the full orchestra, there will be conducting lessons with two pianos and with a chamber ensemble comprising 15 wind and string players.

The individual needs of each participant will be addressed in video analysis sessions, class meetings and coaching in front of the orchestra. Conducting technique, presence in front of the orchestra, understanding of the score and rehearsal techniques will be explored both in individual lessons as well as in group meetings. Additionally there will be some time concentrated on work on accompaniments with soloists.

As part of the course, two public concerts are planned for the participants, at each of which eight of the students will conduct. The allocation of the pieces or movements to be conducted in concert will be made during the course, and therefore, the whole course repertoire should be completely prepared. An appeal against this decision is not possible.

The masterclass will be accompanied by similar masterclasses for clarinet, trumpet, guitar, piano and piano-duo. In the period between the 14-20th July, ISA-Allegra offers a Choral Conducting class as well and all participants in the Orchestral Conducting masterclass are welcome to attend its sessions free of charge.

The culmination of the ISA-Allegra concerts will be a Gala Concert on the 20th of July, conducted by Prof. Johannes Schlaefli.

All participants will find their accommodation in a centrally located 3*** hotel in single rooms. The cost of accommodation with breakfast and transfer from and to Bucharest airport is included in the course fee.

Check-in is 15.07.2016, and Check-out 29.07.2016

The applicants also have the chance to get a price reduction for the course in the form of a scholarship. This is limited to a maximum of three students who will participate for fee reduced between 25% and 50%. If you want to apply for a scholarship, or if only such a scholarship enables you to participate in the course, please mention this at the corresponding place on the application form.
