Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival
July 18–23, 2016
Led by Conductor, Robert Franz (Music Director of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and Associate Conductor of the Houston Symphony), the Art of Conducting Workshop is designed to help practicing conductors develop technique, gain experience conducting a professional ensemble, and connect with their core artist. Through movement exercises, conducting lessons, and rehearsal/performances with a professional orchestra conducting fellows will work towards deepening awareness and creating more powerful connections with music. Podium time averages 1+ hours/day and is limited to 3 active fellows!
This program includes private lessons, guided rehearsals and two final performances divided among the 3 fellows. (One Concerto program and one Orchestral program)
A second week of continued lessons and cover conducting with the festival orchestra is optional. Playing opportunities in the FSAF festival orchestra are also available during the second week.
Tuition is $750. Housing is available for a nominal fee.
To apply, send resume and 2 DVD/YouTube sample videos of your conducting to Dori Nix at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival office. The three fellow positions will be open until filled.
