Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia announces a part-time opening for the position of Assistant Conductor. The ensemble, one of the nation’s longest-standing and most successful, seeks a dynamic and experienced choral musician to work closely with Artistic Director Paul Rardin toward fulfilling its mission of excellence and innovation.

- Serving as artistic assistant to the Artistic Director, which may include facilitating warm-ups, running sectionals or rehearsals in the Artistic Director’s absence, marking parts and/or scores, listening for balance.
- Coordinating all arrangements in conjunction with the Production Manager for the rehearsals and performances as specified by Artistic Director and Executive Director, including but not limited to assisting with production set up and break down and managing the chorus as related to production (lining up before concerts, cuing when to take the stage, etc.).
- Serving as a core singer within the chorus, including providing musical leadership for the section and chorus as a whole, providing musical knowledge to chorus members who may have questions, in order to minimize interruptions for the Artistic Director during rehearsals.
Earned advanced degree in conducting (doctorate preferred), minimum three years experience conducting SATB choirs. Attendance at majority of rehearsals and all performances is required.
