Some of the participants will be invited to become “Conducting Fellows” with the Allentown Symphony during the 2016 -2017 season.

Course Description:

The Beyond the Baton Conducting Workshop focuses on improving and expanding conducting technique through exercises from the book “Baton Basics” by Diane Wittry and also focuses on artistic leadership and programming from the book “Beyond the Baton.”

Diane Wittry is the conductor of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, PA; Artistic Director of Pizazz Music; and a frequent guest conductor and conducting teacher with orchestras in Europe.

There will be daily conducting sessions for all participants, some rehearsals will be with string quintet, others with a string orchestra. The course will conclude with the participants preparing a professional video which can be used for conducting auditions and job applications.

Seminar fess are due upon acceptance to the workshop.
