RAPPAHANNOCK YOUTH SYMPHONY CONDUCTOR
APPLICATION POSITION: SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR CLASSIFICATION: YOUTH ORCHESTRA REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SUMMARY: The Rappahannock Youth Orchestra was founded in 1996 by Mrs. Deborah Tripp as a 501(s)3 organization to enhance the standard of playing in public, private and home schools. Since 1996 the RYO/RYS has given opportunities from the ages 10-18 to perform throughout the community. Our three orchestral ensembles serve students from the Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Orange, King George and surrounding areas. The educational and social benefits complement the RYS experience as they improve their performance skills. The mission of the RYS is to provide young dedicated musicians the opportunity to develop advanced ensemble and performance skills that will enable them to grow to their fullest potential as musicians, and in doing so, to enrich the community through the art of music performance. Our rehearsals are both fun and disciplined, as each of our professional conductors strives for excellence on both individual and collective levels. Conductors work with both the full orchestra and in sectionals, and the musical selections challenge even the most accomplished musicians. We also provide instruction in music theory, history, technique and etiquette. This professional training culminates in four full orchestral performances each season.
