The Park University International Center for Music invites applications for the position of Associate Professor of Music/Director of Orchestral Activities. This is a full-time, 10-month, non-tenure track position with the start date of August 1, 2016

General Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will
  • demonstrate the ability to provide the artistic leadership, depth and breadth of knowledge of repertoire for chamber- and full-orchestra, and the technical and pedagogical expertise as a conductor and teacher to build and sustain a growing orchestral strings program which attracts and retains U.S. and International undergraduate and graduate students of the highest quality,
  • teach one three-credit music history course each semester or other course appropriate to the candidates academic background and qualifications, and
  • work closely with the orchestral string music faculty and the office of admissions to coordinate recruiting activities for the orchestra program, including the recruitment of brass and woodwind performers.
  • Master’s degree in music required, earned doctorate preferred.
  • Previous successful experience as a college orchestra conductor.
  • Exemplary performance skills and a conductor, teacher, and performer.
  • Experience in the student recruiting.
  • Support of the University’s mission and provide service to the university in a collegial manner.

The International Center for Music (ICM) at Park University trains and educates the next generation of accomplished musicians in a focused and creative atmosphere with an international faculty of renowned excellence. ICM offers degree, certificate and diploma programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our courses of study are focused in the areas of performance in violin, viola, cello and piano.
