Visiting Assistant Professor – Applied Violin & Viola/Orchestra Conductor
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Music at Colorado Mesa University seeks a dynamic violin performer-teacher and orchestra conductor. Primary responsibilities are to teach applied violin and viola and conduct the CMU orchestra. Other responsibilities in this one-year position include teaching Orchestration, Symphonic Literature, and coaching chamber ensembles. The successful candidate will continue recruiting efforts for CMU, perform in the CMU Piano Trio, and fulfill service commitments to the department. Under a separate contract, this position serves as the Concertmaster of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: A Master’s degree from an accredited institution and demonstrated exceptional experience and proven success teaching, conducting required; PhD preferred. Colorado Mesa University is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of access and success for underrepresented students within higher education.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: One-year position beginning August 15, 2016
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. Excellent health and retirement benefits package.
