Elizabeth City State University is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at the rank of Assistant Professor. The primary purpose of the position is to conduct the ECSU-Albemarle Symphony Orchestra, teach applied strings and string methods classes, Introduction to Music Literature, Non-Western Music and the music theory sequence. Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to quality teaching, a strong promise for scholarly activity and professional service, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Professional responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activities, student advisement, student recruitment and departmental/university services.

Requirements: A Doctorate in Music is preferred with college level teaching experience and proficiency in an applied area. Significant professional experience and a record of accomplishments are expected as well as a working knowledge about curriculum development. The successful candidate is expected to maintain creative activity in his/her respective applied area or field. Preference will be given to candidates with potential for departmental leadership. Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
