The Department of Music and Dance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst announces the position of Director of Orchestral Studies.
Position: Assistant Professor. Tenure track. Salary: Commensurate with Assistant Professor rank. Position begins September 1, 2017.
Responsibilities: Conduct the UMass Amherst Symphony Orchestra.Teach under-graduate instrumental conducting. Guide the graduate program in orchestral conducting. Supervise teaching assistant in conducting. Conduct the All-University Orchestra. Additional teaching responsibilities depend on candidate’s areas of expertise and department needs. Build and maintain national visibility s an ensemble conductor as part of professional development. Coordinate instrumental recruitment activities with the applied faculty and other large ensemble conductors. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, serve on committees, and perform other university and professional service, as appropriate.
