Conducting Academy
09 Jul 2017 – 15 Jul 2017
California State University, Fullerton

Build choral-orchestral skills and advance your career in a supportive learning environment with master teachers.
Chorus America’s Conducting Academy gives choral conductors a unique opportunity to develop choral-orchestral skills and enhance their university training. The Academy builds on the success of Chorus America’s Conducting Masterclasses with a new, week-long program.

Participating conductors will work on two complete choral-orchestral works: the Haydn Lord Nelson Mass and the Duruflé Requiem, with a special emphasis on conducting and rehearsing string orchestras. A professional orchestra and chorus will be in residence, and the Academy culminates with a final performance of both masterworks.

The Conducting Academy is hosted by California State University, Fullerton. A world-class, accessible faculty offers podium coaching, daily video review sessions, individual instruction, and symposia on topics such as string techniques, classical period performance practice, score preparation, and orchestral rehearsal procedures.

Conducting Fellows will be selected through a competitive application process. Valuable opportunities to participate as Conducting Scholars and Daily Observers are available as well.

The application process for Conducting Fellows and the registration process for Conducting Scholars and Daily Observers will open November 1.
