Job Summary and Requirements The Department of Music is seeking a conductor to direct the University Orchestra and teach related courses. The ideal candidate will be an active scholar whose academic interests and abilities will broaden and/or deepen current departmental strengths. Candidates with an earned doctorate and college teaching experience, or with equivalent professional experience, preferred.

Duties include directing the Denison University Orchestra and teaching other courses related to the successful candidate’s performance and scholarly interests. Options for courses may include, but are not limited to: studio performance, conducting pedagogy, theory and aural skills, musicology and ethnomusicology, writing and research methods, or interdisciplinary courses that contribute to the University’s liberal arts mission.

Applicants should submit a letter of application that addresses their perspective on conducting and teaching in a liberal arts environment and how they will engage with or foster diversity on campus. In addition, please submit a CV, copies of academic transcripts, and names, addresses, telephone numbers and three references.
