Purpose of Position:
The Department of Music invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Strings/Director of Orchestra position beginning August 2017.

Application review will begin December 4, 2016, and continue until position is filled.

Primary Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities are to provide leadership as musical/artistic director of the NKU Philharmonic, and to offer solid instruction in applied lessons in the string area.

Additional teaching duties include conducting, music history, and other areas as determined by the candidate’s background, teaching load, and program need.

The successful candidate will also meet typical service/recruiting expectations and collaborate with the Music Preparatory Program and other programs within the School.

Applicants should provide evidence of scholarly/creative distinction and potential for future success in the areas of conducting and/or performance.

Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in music completed by August, 2017
Evidence of successful teaching at the college level.
A strong record of successful professional activity in orchestral conducting.
Performing experience commensurate with an applied instructor at the college level.
