ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR – The National Music Festival. Now in its seventh season (4 June-17 June 2017), the National Music Festival is accepting applications for Assistant Conductor to the Festival Symphony Orchestras. Under the direction of the Artistic Director, Richard Rosenberg, the Assistant Conductor(s) will serve as cover conductor, conduct the NMF orchestras and ensembles in concerts and assist the conductor and guest conductors Nikolay Lalov and Mladen Tarbuk as assigned. Repertoire to include Mahler, Symphony No. 6, Mendelssohn, Symphony No. 4; Gershwin, An American in Paris;” Shostakovich, Symphony No. 5 and Schönberg, “Verklärte Nacht” in a  new edition for string orchestra that will be recorded for Naxos.

The National Music Festival at Washington College, in Chestertown, Maryland, brings together inspiring mentors and the next generation of gifted musicians, providing education, scholarships and affordable, adventurous public performances.  All apprentices receive full scholarships. For two weeks each June, these musicians live and work together, presenting over 35 concerts — ranging from solo recitals to large symphony orchestra performances with chorus — and 200 free open rehearsals for music lovers from all over the world.
