Faculty: Carl Topilow and Theodore Kuchar, assisted by Benjamin Loeb
Host orchestra: Lviv Philharmonic (Lviv, Ukraine)
In response to feedback from past participants, we are bringing back the Academy format with ICWF 2017: Lviv Academy. In this workshop, all conductors will perform in a public performance with the Lviv Philharmonic. As with all workshops, there will be some sessions of free choice of repertoire, but halfway through, all participants will be assigned a movement for performance on one of two public performances. Also, all conductors will have the opportunity to record video of selections they are not chosen to conduct in performance. Conductors will have just over 120 minutes with the full orchestra. This workshop is limited to 18 participants.
As always, all sessions in both workshops will be digitally video recorded in high definition and conductors will have full use of their video. Hotel, two meals each day, and airport transfers are included in the tuition price.
Repertoire: Mozart Overture to Magic Flute and Symphony #39; Beethoven Symphonies #1; Dvorak Carnival Overture and Symphonies #8 and 9
First application deadline: January 15, 2017. After that, all applications will be considered on a rolling, space-available basis.
Application fee: $50
Tuition: $3950
