ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR – 1 position available
Organization: The Minnesota Orchestra. 2017-2018 marks the 115th season of the Minnesota Orchestra; Music Director, Osmo Vänskä; operates on a 52-week contract and has an annual budget of $31 million.
Duties: Opportunity for a full-time staff conductor to work with a major international orchestra. The position will cover subscription and other rehearsals; serve as the Orchestra’s representative through community service activities such as school visits, collaborative projects with other Minnesota institutions and development functions; represent the Music Director as directed; perform other administrative duties and other musical assistance as requested by the Music Director. Assistant Conductor performance opportunities will include educational, outreach, community, O-Live (pops) and family concerts.
Qualifications: Extensive background and experience in orchestral conducting, excellent musicianship, ability to work well with orchestra and staff, ability to communicate articulately in the English language and a demonstrated familiarity to U.S. culture and diversity. This is a full-time position effective beginning September 2017. Applicants must be available for the audition period April 6-7, 2017, in Minneapolis. Invited applicants will be responsible for own travel and other expenses.
