European Music Academy Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the International Conducting Competition within the European Music Academy Foundation, under the patronage of the Mayor Ivan Portnih, with the kind partnership of Varna – European Youth Capital 2017, Radio Varna, Municipality – Varna, Bus carrier “Metro” and Turkish Airlines.
This competition will provide an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and opinions about classical music. The competition will offer a wonderful concert for the audience and lovers of symphonic music.

1. General conditions
– The competition will be held from 22 to 26 November 2017 in the studio of Radio – Varna, Varna, Bulgaria.
– In the competition can participate conductors up to 35 years.
(Candidates must have been born after 22 November 1982).
– The competition is held in four tours:
I. Tour – Elimination – involving all interested candidates meeting
the requirements and and who have submitted the necessary documents and video in the deadline from the instructions below.
II. Tour – Conducting with piano accompaniment – includes up to 40 candidates who have passed the previous tour..
III. Tour – Semifinal- Conducting and working with orchestra.
IV. Tour – Final – Conducting an orchestra before an audience – Concert.

2. Competition program, conditions and repertoire

I. Elimination tour.
– Applicants must submit a filled application form and a video with their performance with duration between 15 and 30 min., either by e-mail via link (for the video) on emavarna2015@gmail.com , or a DVD-carrier or flash drive by the post to the following address: European Music Academy Varna, blvd. Primorski 135, Varna 9002, Bulgaria;

– The deadline for sending the completed application form and video – June 15, 2017.
– Each applicant must pay a fee for processing of the documents – 25 euro, paid into the bank account of the European Music Academy Foundation. Receipt for the payment (or a copy) must be sent together with the application form and the video. If the fee is not paid, the documents would not be examined.
The jury will evaluate all applicants through their documents and records to July 10, 2017. The successful candidates for the second round in Varna will be announced between 15 and July 25, 2017. All approved applicants will receive a personal invitation to participate in the second round.

II. Conducting with piano accompaniment – (conducted in Varna, Bulgaria.)
– In this round will be admitted up to 40 candidates.
– Second round of the competition will be held on 22-23 November 2017.
– To participate in the second round, each candidate must submit 170 EURO fee on behalf of the European Music Academy Foundation no later than 15 August 2017.
– Each candidate will have to present an overture and parts of concert for instrument and orchestra (with piano accompaniment) chosen from the following repertoire:

Overture
W. A. Mozart: The Magic Flute
L. v. Beethoven: Egmont
G. Rossini: The Barber of Seville
Johann Strauss II – Die Fledermaus
Concertos:
1. F. Liszt: Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major; mov. 1
2. F. Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor; 2nd and 3rd mov.
3. A. Dvořak: Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104; 1st and 2nd mov.

– The presentation of each candidate is up to 30 minutes.
– At their discretion, the jury has the right to interrupt the candidate during his performance, and to put certain tasks.

III. Semifinal – Conducting and working with orchestra – (conducted in Varna, Bulgaria.)
– In this round will be admitted up to 15 candidates.
– Third round of the competition will be held on November 25, 2017
– Each candidate will have to conduct and work with a symphony orchestra on a symphony chosen from the following repertoire:

1. Haydn: Symphony No. 88 in G Major
2. W. A. Mozart: Symphony No. 36 in C major, K. 425
3. L. van Beethoven: Symphony No. 2 in D major, op. 36
4. F. Schubert: Symphony No. 5; D. 485

– The presentation of each candidate is up to 30 minutes.
– At their discretion, the jury has the right to interrupt the candidate during his performance, and to put certain tasks.

IV. Final – Conducting an orchestra before an audience – concert (rehearsal 40 min., General rehearsal 20 min.) – Held in Varna, Bulgaria.

– In this round will be admitted up to 5 candidates.
– The forth round of the competition will be held on November 26, 2017.
– Each candidate will conduct a whole piece or a part of a piece and an aria with a symphony orchestra and a soloist in a concert before audience, by request of the jury from the following repertoire:

1. Pancho Vladigerov – Classic and Romantic – op.24 / mov. 1, 2, 3
2. W.A. Mozart – Flute Concerto in D major – K. 314
3. F. Mendelssohn – Symphony 4, op. 90 “Italian”
4. W.A.Mozart:
Cosi fan tutte: Recitativo of Dorabella “Scostati, paventa il tristo affetto”
and Aria: “Smanie implacabili”
5. Puccini:
Gianni Schicchi: “O, mio babbino caro”

– Each candidate is entitled to a rehearsal with the orchestra – 40 min. and general rehearsal on stage – up to 20 min.

3. Prizes
– The winner of the competition wins the right to conduct a gala concert with the Symphony Orchestra of the National Opera – Varna in 2018.
– All participants receive diplomas.
– The winners will be awarded at a ceremony on 26 November at 19 o’clock in the studio of Radio – Varna.
– The jury is entitled to award two prizes for the laureates.

4. Fees and accommodation
– Fee for submission and processing of documents – 25 EURO. If the fee is not paid, the documents would not be examined.
– Fee for the second, third and fourth round of the competition in Varna – 170 EURO.
– The organizer will assist for the accommodation of participants in a 3-star hotel in the center of Varna, for a fee ranging from 15 to 20 euros per bed in a double room (subject to clarification).

Европейска Mузикална Aкадемия има удоволствието да обяви създаването на Международен конкурс за диригенти, в рамките на Фондация Европейска Музикална Академия, под патронажа на кмета на града Иван Портних, с любезното партньорство на Варна – Европейска Младежка Столица 2017, Радио Варна, Община – Варна, Автобусен превозвач “Метро” и Търкиш Еърлайнс.
Този конкурс ще предостави прекрасна възможност на участниците да обменят идеи и мнения за класическата музика. Конкурсът ще предложи и един прекрасен концерт за публиката и любителите на симфоничната музика.

1. Общи условия

– Конкурсът ще се проведе от 22 до 26 ноември 2017 г. в студиото на Радио – Варна, гр. Варна.
– В конкурса могат да участват диригенти до 35 години.
(Кандидатите трябва да са родени след 22 ноември 1982г.)
– Конкурсът се провежда в четири тура:
I. Тур – Елиминационен – участват всички желаещи кандидати, отговарящи на условията и подали необходимите документи и видеозаписи в указания по-долу срок;
II. Тур – Дирижиране с акомпанимент на пиано – участват до 40 кандидата, класирани на I тур.
III. Тур – Полуфинал – Дирижиране и работа с оркестър.
IV. Тур – Финал – Дирижиране на оркестър пред публика – Концерт

2. Конкурсна програма, условия и репертоар

I. Елиминационен тур
– Кандидатите трябва да изпратят попълнен формуляр и видеозапис със свое представяне (по избор) с времетраене от 15 до 30 мин. по електронна поща и чрез линк (за видеозаписа) на имейл emavarna2015@gmail.com , или на DVD-носител или флашка по поща на следния адрес: Европейска Музикална Академия Варна, бул. – Kраен срок за изпращане на попълнен формуляр и видеозапис – 15 юни 2017 г. (важи датата на пощенското клеймо).
– Всеки кандидат заплаща такса за обработка на документите – 25 EURO, внесени по банковата сметка на Фондация Европейска Музикална Академия. Бележката за извършеното плащане (или нейно копие) трябва да бъде изпратена заедно с формуляра и видеозаписа. Без внесена такса документи не се разглеждат.
Журито ще оцени всички кандидати по документи и представени записи до 10 юли 2017 г. Класираните кандидати за втори тур ще бъдат обявени между 15 и 25 юли 2017 г. Всички одобрени кандидати ще получат и персонална покана за участие във втори тур.

II. Дирижиране с акомпанимент на пиано – (провежда се в гр. Варна, България.)
– За участие в този тур ще бъдат допуснати до 40 кандидата.
– Втори тур на конкурса ще се проведе на 22-23 ноември 2017 г.
– За участие във втори тур всеки кандидат трябва да внесе 170 EURO такса по сметка на Фондация Европейска Музикална Академия не по-късно от 15 август 2017 г.
– Всеки кандидат представя една увертюра и части от концерт за инструмент и оркестър (със акомпанимент на пиано) по избор от следния репертоар:

– Всеки кандидат дирижира и работи със симфоничен оркестър една симфония по избор от следния репертоар:

– Четвърти тур на конкурса ще се проведе на 26 ноември 2017 г.
– Всеки кандидат дирижира цяло произведение или част от произведение и ария със симфоничен оркестър и солист в концерт, пред публика, по задание на журито, от следния репертоар:

3. Награди

– Лауреатът на конкурса печели правото да дирижира Гала концерт със симфоничния оркестър на Държавна опера – Варна през 2018 г.
– Всички участници получават дипломи за участие.
– Победителите ще бъдат наградени на официална церемония на 26 ноември от 19 часа в студиото на Радио – Варна.
– Журито има право да присъди две лауреатски награди.

4. Такси за участие и настаняване

– Такса за подаване и обработване на документи – 25 EURO. Без внесена такса документи не се разглеждат.
– Такса за участие във втори, трети и четвърти тур на конкурса във Варна – 170 EURO.
– Организаторът ще съдейства за настаняването на участниците в тризвезден хотел в центъра на гр. Варна, срещу заплащане в диапазон от 15 до 20 евро на легло в двойна стая (подлежи на уточняване).
