Cancellations Create 3 Openings in the 2017 Advanced Conducting Academy June 17 – July 1

The International Institute for Conductors will accept up to 12 conductors for two weeks of conducting study and performance at the 18th Advanced Conducting Academy in Bacau Romania from June 17 – July 1, 2017. The Institute faculty includes Robert Gutter, Music Director Emeritus, Springfield Symphony (MA) and Philharmonia of Greensboro (NC); Ovidiu Balan, Music Director, Bacau Philharmonic; and Charles Gambetta, creator of the Embodied Conducting™ method. The Bacau Philharmonic returns for its 14th year as host orchestra.

Participating conductors each receive approximately 150 minutes of podium time with full orchestra, 60 additional minutes with string quintet and piano plus 40 minutes of video review with faculty, score study and musicianship masterclasses and daily Embodied Conducting™ instruction. All participants will conduct on 2 of the Institute’s 4 public concerts, and the faculty may extend an invitation to one conductor for a full concert with the Bacau Philharmonic the following year.

The number of conducting workshop offerings has increased dramatically over the last 10 years, but there’s only one International Institute for Conductors with a 20-year track record of presenting outstanding conductor training programs. No other workshops offer more podium time, higher quality instruction and 2 concert performances at a lower price than the Institute.
