“The Art of the Accompaniment” Conducting Course at the International Mendelssohn Festival

8 active conductors will be admitted, and passive conductors will also be admitted.
Closing concert September 23, 2017 in St. Johannis-Harvestehude with all participants, with conterti played by the prizewinners of the String Competition of the Summer School of the International Mendelssohn Festival.

Outside of orchestra rehearsals students will conduct for each other in group settings with Maestro Windfuhr presiding. Two pianos will be provided, and students will be asked to play for one another. It is also encouraged that conductors bring their primary instruments and play during these sessions with the pianos. It is recommended that the students prepare the repertoire on piano as much as possible, using either the full score or a piano solo or four-hands reduction.

Students can arrange for their own filming of all sessions and concert.

80 minutes of podium time with orchestra plus concert.
80 or more minutes of podium time with two pianos.
