The priority deadline for applications to the 2017 Beyond the Baton Conducting Workshop is quickly approaching on May 19.

 

The Beyond the Baton Conducting Workshop focuses on improving and expanding each conductor’s technique through a variety of exercises and concepts from the book “Baton Basics” and also focuses on discussions of artistic leadership and concepts from the book “Beyond the Baton” by Diane Wittry.

 

The repertoire for the workshop is: Tchaikovsky – String Serenade & Grieg – Holberg Suite.

Participants will have the opportunity of making a professional level conducting video for job applications. All conducting sessions will be videotaped with a remote microphone. Total podium time for each active participant is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes. Some sessions will be with String Quintet, some with string orchestra.  Some participants will be invited to become “Conducting Fellows” for the Allentown Symphony, (PA) for the 2017-2018 Season.
