A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the team for an experienced, well-motivated conductor and music educator to fill the role of Orchestral Education Leader, working primarily on Opera North’s award winning education programme, In Harmony Opera North from August 2017.

In Harmony Opera North is a Community Residency impacting on over 1100 children in full-time education and the wider community that surrounds their schools. It seeks to deliver an inclusive programme of high quality instrumental and vocal music education and performance opportunities in order that young people from all backgrounds are able to engage with the arts and, through doing so, deliver wider benefits such as increased confidence, aspiration, engagement with formal learning and an increase in parental engagement.

The successful candidate will be a string player with a demonstrably high level of musical skill and literacy, supported by a strong understanding of musical pedagogy in relation to ensemble playing in an education context, from beginner upwards. They will be an inspiring and efficient team leader with proficient conducting skills and the ability to engage and enthuse people across all levels of an organisation.

Satisfactory DBS clearance and the ability to work across locations, occasionally at unsocial hours, will also be necessary.

Salary: £30,000 per annum
