CANADIAN CONDUCTOR SHOWCASE

If you are an emerging Canadian conductor, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is providing a unique opportunity.

The WSO will be offering a live experience with the Orchestra to four qualified Canadian conductors on September 14, 2017 in Winnipeg. The goal is to both acquaint the WSO with talented Canadian conductors for future opportunities, as well as to provide selected conductors the opportunity of a live audition with orchestra.

Each finalist will work with the WSO for a one-hour duration in an open rehearsal format. A variety of repertoire, which will include a short spoken introduction, will include classical works through Pops plus accompaniment with a soloist. Material will be provided in advance to the selected conductors. Air travel, hotel accommodation and a per diem will be provided for the one-day period.

Canadian citizens and residents, whose talent and vision comprise all aspects of concert preparation, presentation and performance to a wide variety of audiences, are invited to apply.

Application requirements: Closing date August 11, 2017
– A 10-minute DVD video or link to an online video of a performance or rehearsal with a spoken introduction
– Two letters of reference
– Full biographical material
