Opera San Luis Obispo   Contract Job ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR OPENING

Artistic Director and Conductor, Maestro Brian Asher Alhadeff is seeking an experienced young conductor who would benefit from a highly busy and versatile “Assistant Conductor” opportunity. Ideal candidates are hard working, enthusiastic, open-minded and flexible instrumental musicians, over the age of 21, with experience in some branch of conducting, and a sincere interest in learning the art of conducting, networking skills, and organizational and project management skills.

Applicants must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and hold a degree in some branch of conducting, and/or, currently enrolled in a conducting degree program. Only applicants that have a current U.S. drivers license, and have a working vehicle will be considered.

Assistant Conductor(s) will assist in staging rehearsals, outreach activities, assisting stage crew, event set-up and breakdown, and children’s matinees scheduled around several of these productions. Qualified candidates may also serve as cover conductor and be engaged in video taped full-orchestra opportunities.
