Closing Concerts at the Auditorium City of Leon

on 9th. and 10th. at 8:30 p.m.

The Gala Concerts shall be held at the Auditorio Ciudad de León at 20:00 h on 8 & 9 September.

FOR ACTIVE AND PASSIVE STUDENTS: All inscription forms and documents must be submitted before 30 JUNE 2018. 
Given the limited capacity and the high demand, we cannot accept further applications beyond this date.




Active students, full Piano and Conducting Masterclasses: EUR 650 
Active students, Stage 1 only of the Conducting Masterclass (3 days of tuition): EUR 250
Passive students: EUR 250




ALL APPLICANTS (active and passive) MUST submit their application via EMAIL

– Inscription form, duly filled in (*poner el enlace automático boletín)
– *Short Biography listing the applicant’s musical activity of the past few years
– passport photograph in JPG format
– Scan of your National ID card or Passport
– Bank receipt as proof of payment for the full fee (Pianists: EUR 650 / Conductors Stage 1: EUR 250 / Passive students: EUR 250). Kindly indicate the Student’s name and the Masterclass they are applying for (Piano / Conducting).

These fees are inclusive of the inscription fee: EUR 65, which is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.


Piano participants must send the following  before 1 June 2018: 
-All documents required in Section C) above, including proof of payment of the inscription fee: EUR 65.

  1. A RECENT RECORDING (CD, DVD or link) featuring the applicant performing one of the concerti listed in the Repertoire section, from memory and with orchestra or repetiteur playing the orchestral part.

Maestro Joaquín Soriano will review the recordings and announce the list of accepted applicants by 24 June.

From that moment, ADMITTED PIANISTS may transfer the rest of the fee (EUR 585) and send us the proof of payment, in order to complete their enrolment as active students. The deadline for this is 30 June.


Active students of the Conducting Masterclass must prepare the Concerti listed in the Repertoire section above.
SELECTION PROCESS: Maestro Aprea will teach all applicants for the first three days of the Masterclass. This Stage 1 of the Conducting Masterclass shall be held at the ‘Ángel Barja’ Auditorium. After the end of Stage 1, Maestro Aprea will select the students who will proceed to the Orchestral Stage of the Masterclass, to be held at the Auditorio Ciudad de León. Students who progress to the Orchestral Stage must complete payment of the rest of the fee at this point.PASSIVE STUDENTS
Passive students may attend all classes for the Piano and the Conducting Masterclasses, as well as all rehearsals with the Orchestra and the Gala concerts.



  1. The selection process, the final number of active students and the repertoire each of them will bring to the Masterclass remains at the sole discretion of the Faculty.
  2. Any active students whom the Faculty determines shall not proceed to the following Stage of the Masterclass may remain as Passive students if they wish. In this case, the corresponding portion of the fee shall be refunded, depending on the amount of classes received.
  3. Pianist students may practice at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de León, in C/ Santa Nonia, nº 11, for the full duration of the Masterclass and within the schedules which shall be duly provided.
  4. All students must bring the sheet music for their assigned Concerto/ Concerti: Active students must bring original scores as well as bound photocopies for their assigned Professor.
  5. All active students must bring concert clothes for the performances.



Upon completion of the Masterclass, all active students shall be awarded a Certificate of Participation and all passive students shall receive a Certificate of Attendance (56 hours).

Classes shall take place on 2 – 9 September 2018, both days inclusive.
Matinee sessions: 10:00 – 13:30 h
Evening sessions: 16:00 – 19:30 h

2 September

The Maestros (piano and conducting) shall work with the students individually, at the following locations:
Pianists: Sala Eutherpe, calle Alfonso V nº 10, León
Conductors: with repetiteur, at the Auditorio ‘Ángel Barja’ (Conservatorio Profesional de Música), Calle Santa Nonia, nº 11, León.

3, 4 September

Location: Auditorio Ángel Barja, Conservatorio Profesional de Música de León: Pianists and conductors shall have joint lessons with the repetiteur, José Gallego.
The order of classes shall be announced by the Faculty at the beginning of each day.

At the end of Stage 1 of the Masterclass, the Faculty will choose the students who will progress on to the Orchestral Stage of the Masterclass, which will be held at the Auditorio Ciudad de León with the León Youth Orchestra “JOL”.

5 – 7 September (Orchestral Stage with JOL)
Location: Auditorio Ciudad de León, Avenida Reyes Leoneses, 4.
Pianists and Conductors shall have joint classes with the Joven Orquesta Leonesa (JOL) Youth Orchestra.
Again, at the end of Stage 2, the Faculty will choose the students who shall take part in the Gala Concerts.

9, 10 September (Gala Concerts)

Auditorio Ciudad de León.
Matinee sessions: Rehearsal classes for the Gala Concerts.
Evenings: Concerts shall take place at 20:30 h.
