January 2019 International Conductors Workshop and Competition:



The sixteenth annual ICWC in cooperation with the Gwinnett Symphony Musical Arts Consortium is scheduled for Jan. 18 to 21, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. This popular, intensive, well attended and well- respected workshop and competition is open to conductors at all levels of experience and is based on the techniques of eminent symphony mentors Monteux, Musin and Szell. Faculty includes Maestro Adrian Gnam, Director; with Associate Director, Dr. Gregory Pritchard, conductor of the Gwinnett Symphony Chamber Orchestra.

Each participant will conduct the fully professional ICWC Orchestra for up to 70 minutes throughout the workshop and on a public performance on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019. A major benefit will include the selection of one or more winners to conduct on a concert of the GSCO during a current or future season, depending on the orchestra and the winner’s availability. Past participants have recently gained positions with the Cincinnati, Ft. Worth, Houston, Detroit, New Jersey, Portland (ME), St. Louis, Oregon and Minnesota Orchestras.
Participant fees have been reduced to $1450.00 which includes a professionally recorded video of each participant’s orchestral sessions. Applications will be                        accepted until the workshop is filled, however those submitted by Nov. 9, 2018 will receive priority. Upon notification of acceptance, a $500 deposit must be made with the balance due by Dec. 7, 2018. Auditor fees are $450.00. No refunds will be made after Dec. 14, 2018.
