2018-19 Conductor Seminar in FARGO, ND (November 11-13)
with CHRISTOPHER ZIMMERMAN, Music Director of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony,
Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (VA), and former Artistic Director of the American Youth Philharmonic. First Prize Winner of the “American Conducting Prize” in the professional orchestra category.

and DR. KEVIN SÜTTERLIN, Director of Orchestral Activities at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and Music Director of Sinfonietta Memphis. Awardee of the highly respected Hirschmann Foundation Switzerland scholarship and Third Prize winner in the renowned American Prize Conducting Competition.

Conduct the FARGO-MOORHEAD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
and THE CONCORDIA ORCHESTRA

REPERTOIRE:
Symphony No. 4 “The Inextinguishable” – Carl Nielsen (a movement of your choice; With the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony)
Scheherazade – Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (a movement of your choice; With The Concordia Orchestra)
Intro & Rondo Capriccioso – Camille Saint-Saëns [Quintet + Piano] with violin soloist Sonja Harasim

Quintet Preparation Sessions
All three works – String Quintet with Piano Reduction of Winds

Conduct major repertoire with full orchestra in a supportive environment. Workshop is limited to 7 participants to ensure 95 minutes of podium time over three days. Excerpts to be conducted will be chosen in consultation with workshop faculty. 40 minutes with full orchestras and 55 minutes with string quartet and piano.

WORKSHOP FEATURES:
Seminars on score study, conductor/soloist collaboration, bowings, baton technique, healthy-body conducting, and organizational topics including programming and community engagement – see full schedule here
60 minutes of individual video analysis with Chris Zimmerman and Kevin Sütterlin
Receive direct feedback from orchestra members in an informal environment
“Extravagant Hospitality” including several meals, local transportation by volunteers, optional home stays and more

Seminar fee: $1,200 for conducting participants, $150 for auditors.
