Girton Conducting Course 2024

A residential course with tutors from the Royal Academy of Music and London Conducting Academy, in the historic setting of Girton College, Cambridge.

Tutors: Dominic Grier, Denise Ham, Cathal Garvey and Leif Tse
with John Longstaff (principal accompanist and score study)

Repertoire:

Beethoven: Symphony No. 1 in C major
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5 in E minor
Brahms: Violin Concerto
Stravinsky: Dumbarton Oaks
Holst: St. Paul’s Suite

The programme includes:

· Orchestral sessions with players from the East Anglia Chamber Orchestra and a professional string quartet
· Professional pianists in each class
· Score study sessions
· Daily technique sessions
· Classes in Rehearsal Technique and Aural Awareness

Course fees include all tuition, accommodation and meals.

For Professional/Advanced/Intermediate Conductors, with a dedicated Beginners’ Class.
