DOMINIQUE ROUITS
It was Yehudi Menuhin who encouraged Dominique Rouits, a conductor and mathematician, to devote himself definitively to his musical career. In 1977, he obtained, as the first designated, the conducting licence of the Normal School of Music in Paris in Pierre Dervaux’ class. His qualities led him rapidly to conduct in France and abroad. He has worked side by side with Marc Soustrot, Jean Claude Casadessus, Peter E&oumltv&oumls and Pierre Boulez in the Towns of the Loire Orchestra Pays, the Lille National Orchestra and the Ensemble Intercontemporain. He has conducted in Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, England, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Egypt, Canada, Korea, etc. Dominque Rouits also takes an interest in teaching. He taught at the Paris Superior National Conservatoire from 1988 to 1993, and has been holding master classes in conducting for 10 years at the Bartok Festival (Hungary) side by side with Kurtag, E&oumltv&oumls and Ligeti. As a Cavalier of the Arts, Dominique Rouits has been teaching at the Paris Normal School of Music since 198l. His conducting class receives numerous foreign students, captivated by this professor who embodies the great French conducting tradition. Since 13 years he is the Conductor of the Massy Orchestra, the musical heart of the Massy Opera
